After visiting the Trench of Death

Time to reflect.. and the best place for it is right across the entrance to the trenches. A bar the "Dodengang"
and the pictures on the wall do not hide anything
Cheers and reflect

Trench of Death

This site where, regiment after regiment, the entire Belgian army toiled, fought and struggled for life, was the heart of the resistance until the morning of the glorious offensive of 28 September 1918. It remains one of the most evocative reminders of the war in the Westhoek. A kilometre (0.6 mile)-long network of revetments, saps and dug-outs, the trench was one of the most dangerous Belgian positions on the Western Front, situated just 50 metres (55 yards) from a German bunker. As a result, it was subjected to almost constant fire from German snipers and machine guns. - See more at: http://www.visitflanders.us

A little song as we get closer to Nov 11

Willem vermandere Duizend soldaten

Den oorlog ga j' hier were vinden

Ja 't is den oorlog da 'j hier were vindt
En 't graf van duizend soldaten
Altijd iemands vader altijd iemands kind

We meugen toch experimenteren

Den oorlog ga j' hier were vinden

Ja 't is den oorlog da 'j hier were vindt
En 't graf van duizend soldaten
Altijd iemands vader altijd iemands kind
Duizend en duizend soldaten (3x)
